I began my educational journey at Huntington College where I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I also competed in track and cross country and even tried throwing the javelin a time or two. I completed my Masters in Educational Leadership at IPFW, but decided that my heart was still in the classroom.
My first teaching position was at Bluffton-Harrison Middle School where I taught in the 5th and 6th grades for a total of 15 years. I taught reading and language, but found that 5th grade math was where I found my niche! I also coached several sports during my time in Bluffton. I left education for a few years, but then God led me to the world of Catholic education as a Physical Education teacher. I served at St. Therese and Most Precious Blood for approximately 3 years where my faith was renewed and my love for educating and connecting with students was reignited. Then, I returned to the classroom as the 4th grade teacher at St. Therese and ABSOLUTELY loved everything about this age. And, how could I say no, when I heard I could return to Most Precious Blood in 2021???
Outside of school, I enjoy camping and hiking with my husband, sewing, water-skiing (slalom), and as many of you know, running! I’ve been running since I was 12 years old, and recently ran my 28th marathon. I believe that God has given me a gift to run and this is when I hear his voice. My next running adventure is taking me to Berlin, Germany. Can you say, bucket list???
